Average Time Commitment: 2-3 months part-time. With self-paced training, individuals who can study at a fast pace have the opportunity to gain competency quickly. Individuals who only have time to study at a slower pace have the opportunity to absorb information without being pushed too quickly.

Requirements:
• Dual monitors are recommended – follow the videos on one and do the course work on the other. Alternatively, use a second computer.
• Internet Connection.
• 12d Model 15 (a 12d Model 15 Cloud licence will be provided free of charge for six months. Egress to Port 22350 is required to access the 12d Model 15 Cloud licence).
Course Outline:
This course is designed for those who haven’t used 12d Model before or have only been using it for a short time. The course is aimed at teaching you the basics of civil design with 12d Model 15, and to ensure you work efficiently using current best practices. For anyone wishing to acquire new competencies or maintain a certain proficiency, attending a one-off training course every now and then isn’t enough. Through a curated series of self-paced and continuous online training programs, we’ll help you stay up-to-date with current best practices and give you the resources to be at the forefront of your chosen field.

In this course, you will explore advanced road design features using 12d Model 15, focusing on improving efficiency and adaptability in your projects. This course builds on the Civil Design Basics course and introduces tools and techniques that enhance dynamic design capabilities.
The course covers methods to handle complex design changes, making your projects more responsive and adaptable. By delving into more advanced options and incorporating the latest design features available in 12d Model version 15, you will enhance your design knowledge while embracing current best practices. You will also learn how to utilise the latest features in 12d Model 15, ensuring your designs follow current best practices. The result? Greater efficiency in your work, especially when handling design changes, making your projects more dynamic and adaptable.
In this course, we cover:
- Confirming and preparing survey data, including proposed boundaries and aerial images.
- Sharing models and tins to the design project for seamless collaboration.
- Creating Super Alignments:
- Utilising the element method to create super alignments for road design.
- Implementing commutators to link roads, kerb returns, and other alignments.
- Component Use for Super Alignment object Design:
- Inserting components onto main road alignments to streamline the design process.
- Advanced Design String creation Techniques:
- Using efficient design string creation methods to improve workflow.
- Eliminate manual MTF and Apply function creation.
- Applying smart modifiers to produce design surface features, e.g. car parks, pavement grading, etc..
- Ensuring dynamic updates when making design changes.
- Introduction to BIM Objects:
- A brief overview of incorporating BIM objects into your design workflow.
- Replacing traditional templates with snippets.
- Using Snippets to replace multiple modifiers.
- Introduction to the new pram ramp
- Automation of Design Updates:
- Using Chains to automate updates and dynamically update tins.
- Utilising screen layout files and the recorder in Chains for efficient file outputs.
- Pavement Design with Trimeshes:
- Designing pavements using both manual methods and the pavement manager with snippets.
Assessment:
- Knowledge check quizzes after each lesson to reinforce understanding.
